New Details Emerge About Barron Trump

Barron Trump ran a private dinner at Mar-a-Lago for 90 minutes in 2024, keeping the table going with stories and jokes, according to guests who were there.

Barron Trump, 20, is the son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, and he has spent most of his life out of view. That dinner, at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., is still the fullest picture of him painted by anyone outside the family. The guests told the story on an episode of the “PBD Podcast” in April 2024.

The longstanding shorthand on him is the quiet one — shy, happiest in the background. The guests came away with a very different impression.

Entrepreneur Patrick Bet-David, founder of the media company Valuetainment, sat at the table that night, along with fellow guest Tom Ellsworth and actor and comedian Vincent Oshana. Adam Sosnick, a PBD Podcast co-host, is also listed among the guests. Barron brought along his friend Bo Loudon, an internet personality. It was the year Barron turned 18 in March.

Bet-David said he had never watched Ellsworth laugh that hard for that long. Oshana was struck by the teenager’s ease holding the room, and by his read on politics. Oshana recounted one observation from Barron: people are always going to fight, there is a left and there is a right.

A Gold Spoon, Not Silver

The conversation turned to money, and the guests traded stories about lean stretches in their own lives. Barron said, deadpan, that he had had it rough too — he was born in a penthouse at the top of a building. Other people had a silver spoon, he joked. His was gold.

His Father, the DJ

The music turned suddenly loud midway through the meal. Barron told the table his father was the DJ. The guests looked over and saw the president at work on his iPad, the screen lighting his face.

Barron described his father’s taste for volume this way, as Oshana recalled it: “I’ll be in my room and the house is shaking.”

Ellsworth said what got him were the candid family anecdotes — nothing snide, nothing crude. He described a kid talking about heading off to college, with plans that might shift along with his father’s job. Bet-David summed up the night: sharp, funny, sarcastic and tough.

Grisham Calls Him Kind, Polite

Stephanie Grisham, a former White House press secretary who also served as Melania Trump’s chief of staff, told the Daily Mail: “I cannot stress enough how kind and polite Barron is.” She also called him humble, empathetic and smart.

Melania Trump told Parenting magazine, when Barron was about five, that her son already knew his own mind, held firm views and was perfectly clear about what he wanted. She later told Fox News that choosing a college in New York was his decision and that she respected it. She also said she does not feel like an empty nester.

Barron is the youngest of the president’s five children. Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump come from his marriage to Ivana Trump, and Tiffany Trump from his marriage to Marla Maples. Donald and Melania Trump wed in 2005, and Barron was born in 2006.

He stands 6 feet 7 inches, towering over his father, who has spoken publicly about his son’s height. His public appearances are few. Photographers caught him with his parents and his maternal grandfather, Viktor Knavs, at the funeral of Melania Trump’s mother, Amalija Knavs.

A College Chapter Mapped Aloud

Barron enrolled at New York University’s Stern School of Business in 2024, the college chapter he had mapped out aloud at that dinner. He spent his sophomore year at NYU’s Washington, D.C., campus. He continues there in his junior year.

The version that stuck is not the retiring kid. It is the one who kept a table of grown men laughing for an hour and a half.
