For at least four years, Jim Carrey managed to keep a girlfriend entirely out of the tabloids. That ended in Paris, when the 64-year-old actor and comedian accepted an honorary prize at the 2026 César Awards and thanked, in French, the woman standing beside him in his private life.
“Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah,” Carrey said during a speech he delivered entirely in the host country’s language. He told her he loved her, and he credited his late father, Percy Joseph Carrey, with showing him what love, generosity and laughter looked like.
A Rare Public Debut for a Private Romance
The French academy gave Carrey an award saluting his remarkable body of work and what he has contributed to cinema internationally. It doubled as the couple’s first joint public appearance. Once the ceremony wrapped, cameras caught the pair holding hands — a small gesture, but a loud one from someone who had shielded this part of his life so completely that the press never got wind of it.
Min Ah, sometimes called Minzi, works as an actress and artist based in the Los Angeles area. Photographers first caught her alongside Carrey in 2022 as the two left a charity comedy show hosted by Judd Apatow at Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles. She was called Minzi back then, and not much else about her has surfaced publicly since. Nothing in the available reporting suggests the two have wed.
The Appearance That Fueled Online Rumors
Then there was the matter of Carrey’s face. Images from the night spread fast, and a chunk of the internet insisted the person at the podium wasn’t him — guesses ranged from cosmetic surgery to a mask to an outright body double. Drag performer and makeup artist Alexis Stone poured fuel on the fire by sharing a prosthetic photo with the caption “Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris.”
Organizers weren’t entertaining it. Gregory Caulier, general delegate of the Cesars, noted that the trip had been on the books since the summer before and that Carrey had drilled his French for months, even checking how to pronounce specific words. “For me, it’s a non-issue,” Caulier said. Carrey’s representative, Marleah Leslie, stated flatly that “Jim Carrey attended the Cesar Awards, where he accepted his Honorary Cesar Award.”
Carrey’s Views on Marriage and Past Relationships
Anyone tracking Carrey’s romantic history would have expected the night to stop short of an engagement. Speaking with radio host Howard Stern in 2014, he said marriage wasn’t a necessity for him and that he had no plans to chase it down again, while allowing that nobody can predict how things go. She also fronted The Jane Carrey Band, which released a self-titled debut record in 2009 and went dormant publicly after 2012.
The night amounted to a kind of accounting for Carrey himself: a performer who made his name on rubber-limbed physical comedy and straight-faced absurdity, now on a French stage, speaking his hosts’ language and letting the public glimpse, briefly, the life he leads once the cameras stop rolling.
