Jealous Teen Shoots Girlfriend in the Leg

An 18-year-old young man from Utah has been charged with a first-degree felony for discharging a firearm, causing serious injury to his girlfriend.

The incident occurred on August 6 when Fahd Mahdi allegedly shot his 17-year-old girlfriend in the leg after discovering she had attended a party without him.

According to police reports, Mahdi confronted his girlfriend about her plans and warned her that attending the party would lead to trouble. He followed her to the event and demanded she return home, resorting to threats of physical harm in front of others.

As the evening progressed, the situation escalated. Mahdi reportedly approached his girlfriend while she sat in a friend’s car and shot her in the leg at close range.

She recalled that Mahdi had displayed a pistol and, before she could react, she felt a gunshot wound to her leg. Her friend rushed her to a local hospital where she underwent surgery for a broken femur.

Salt Lake police, responding to the incident around 2:30 am, were informed by the injured girlfriend that Mahdi was responsible for the assault. The victim revealed a disturbing history of abuse in their relationship, describing Mahdi as possessive and abusive, both physically and emotionally.

Mahdi, currently in custody at the Salt Lake County Jail, is being held without bail.
