Fox News co-anchor Jacqui Heinrich found herself in the crosshairs of a blistering, personal attack from President Donald Trump as the 79-year-old president spent Mother’s Day firing off more than a dozen Truth Social posts targeting a wide array of perceived enemies — from the Supreme Court to Iran to Barack Obama — but reserving some of his sharpest venom for the cable network that once served as his most loyal media platform.
Trump watched Heinrich’s interview with Rep. Ro Khanna on “The Sunday Briefing” and erupted, first calling the California Democrat a “sleazebag” and accusing Heinrich of failing to challenge his statements about American manufacturing. The president then escalated with a follow-up post, demanding that Fox News stop booking Democrats unless its anchors are prepared to dismantle their arguments on air.
“You could listen to FoxNews all day long, absolutely devour it, but then, when you hear SLEAZEBAGS, like Congressman Ro Khanna, ‘a wolf in sheep’s clothing,’ LIE, LIE, LIE, AND LIE AGAIN, without any pushback, or competent rebuttal from an anchor, in this case, Jacqui Heinrich, the entire Common Sense dialogue that has been going on all day at Fox is completely obliterated!” Trump fumed on Truth Social.
Trump Turns on His Former Media Ally
The president’s broadside against Fox News included a claim that “MAGA Republicans, who are actually close to 100% of the Party, hate Fox” — a remarkable statement from a politician whose rise to power was deeply intertwined with the network’s support. Trump also declared that Bill Maher and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries should never be given airtime on Fox.
Khanna appeared unfazed by the presidential tirade. The congressman issued a statement noting he had been on a Heartland Tour through Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan the previous week, and urged Trump to concentrate on an upcoming summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping rather than obsessing over cable news interviews. Khanna also delivered a pointed jab: “The man building a ballroom with foreign steel probably shouldn’t call himself the champion of American steel.”
The dig referenced Trump’s White House ballroom construction, which is reportedly using tens of millions of dollars’ worth of donated European-produced steel — a contradiction underscored by Trump’s own post demanding that “ALL FEDERAL AGENCIES MUST BUY AMERICAN — NO EXCUSES!”
Supreme Court Under Fire
Beyond his Fox News assault, Trump posted a 545-word diatribe against the Supreme Court for its decision overturning his tariff regime, which mandated the refund of approximately $160 billion collected from importers. The president suggested the justices could have simply added language to their ruling stating that money paid to the U.S. government need not be returned, claiming this would have preserved $159 billion for America. Trump singled out Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Amy Coney Barrett, expressing frustration that his own appointees had “hurt our Country so badly.”
Iran and Obama Blamed for War
Trump’s first post of the day was a 232-word rant blaming former President Barack Obama for the war with Iran that Trump himself initiated in late February. The president accused Obama of delivering “$1.7 Billion in green cash” to Tehran on a silver platter and claimed Iran had recently wiped out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protesters.
Trump’s digital outburst came as the Iranian government submitted its response to a U.S. peace proposal, with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian posting on social media that “we will never bow our heads before the enemy.” The president’s war has closed the Strait of Hormuz under a U.S. blockade, throwing global oil markets into turmoil. Trump subsequently dismissed Tehran’s response as “unacceptable” and “a piece of garbage,” declaring the ceasefire on “massive life support.” Administration officials later told Israeli media that Trump was leaning toward restarting major combat operations. Departing to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump told reporters: “They’re defeated militarily, and they’ll either do the right thing, or we’ll finish the job.”
Trump also attacked former President Joe Biden, calling him “Sleepy Joe” and declaring him worse than Obama.
A Weekend of Grievances
The online tirade followed a Rose Garden luncheon where Trump hosted Angel Moms and Gold Star Mothers. That gathering also turned into a campaign-style grievance session, with the president railing about “25 million people” entering the country under Biden and repeating his claim of “11,888 murderers” — a figure he introduced at his State of the Union address and for which no evidence has been provided.
During the luncheon, Trump showcased his White House renovations, including the patio that replaced the Rose Garden’s grass and the new black granite walkway he calls the “Presidential Walk of Fame.”
Trump also shifted to economic cheerleading, taking credit for the 115,000 Americans who found jobs in April and mocking Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell with the nickname “Too Late and Won’t Leave.”
Across the entire holiday weekend, through more than a dozen posts and a formal luncheon, Trump never managed to deliver a straightforward Mother’s Day message to American mothers.
