Amazon Employee Shot Dead in Parking Lot

A deadly shooting in the parking lot of an Amazon warehouse in San Antonio, Texas, has resulted in murder charges for two Amazon workers. The incident, which arose from a premeditated fight during a work break, led to the death of one man and left another injured.

Twenty-one-year-old Jamari McKillion and David Perez Morales Jr., 20, were arrested on felony murder charges for the killing of Katrael Delosier. The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. on January 11, in the parking lot of an Amazon Fulfillment Center located in Far West Bexar County, Texas.

Upon arrival at the scene, Bexar County Sheriff’s Office deputies found Delosier and Johnny Bermea III suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were rushed to the hospital, where Delosier succumbed to his injuries. Bermea, however, survived the incident and is reported to be in stable condition.

The fatal altercation was the result of a previous dispute between Bermea and an unnamed Amazon employee. The two had agreed to settle their differences with a fight during a work break. However, the Amazon worker reportedly brought in friends for support before the fight.

According to the arrest affidavits, Bermea and the employee had a history of conflict dating back to their high school days. Bermea had challenged the employee to a fight, alleging that he had a firearm in his vehicle.

The Amazon employee then contacted McKillion for backup. The employee guided Bermea towards a car in the parking lot during their break, whereupon a man exited the vehicle and began shooting before fleeing the scene.

Investigators identified McKillion as the driver of the getaway vehicle, while Morales was found to have fired the shots that killed Delosier. The vehicle was identified as a Toyota Camry.

Surveillance footage captured the tragic event, providing visual proof of the shooting and the suspects’ escape. Cell phone location data further linked the suspects to the Amazon facility during the time of the shooting.

McKillion was apprehended the following day at another Amazon warehouse in San Antonio, and his vehicle was seized as part of the investigation. Morales was detained at a residential address on Mohawk Street. Both men are now facing first-degree felony murder charges, a serious offense in Texas that carries a potential life sentence.

Bail for both McKillion and Morales has been set at $300,000 each, reflecting the gravity of the charges and the alleged premeditated nature of the crime.

The deceased, Delosier, is survived by his wife and two sons. A recent college graduate and prospective homebuyer, his family expressed their grief over his untimely death.

In the aftermath of the incident, Amazon has increased security measures at the fulfillment center and is providing support, including counseling, to its employees. The company is also assisting law enforcement with the investigation.

The company issued a statement expressing their sorrow over the tragic loss of a team member and extending their thoughts to the victim’s family.

The loss to Delosier’s family is irreplaceable and highlights the risk of violence in public spaces. As the legal proceedings continue, prosecutors will aim to prove McKillion and Morales’ intentional conduct that led to Delosier’s death, with surveillance footage and witness statements playing a crucial role in the case.

Defense counsel for both men will have the opportunity to challenge the evidence and suggest alternative narratives. However, the combination of video evidence, eyewitness accounts, and cell phone data presents a significant hurdle to a successful defense.
