TV Star Dies Suddenly at 42

Chad Spodick, a reality television personality best known for his appearance on the 2016 Logo TV dating series “Finding Prince Charming,” has died at age 42. His death, which occurred in Boca Raton, Florida, was announced on Dec. 4, 2025, through a GoFundMe page organized by his friend Kate Werbowski.

On Dec. 9, 2025, a spokesperson for the Boca Raton Police Department confirmed to multiple news outlets that Spodick died by suicide. The police investigation into his death remains open, though no additional details have been publicly released.

The GoFundMe page, created on behalf of Spodick’s mother Felice Harwood, described the loss as “sudden and heartbreaking.” Werbowski wrote that those who knew Spodick “are still struggling to comprehend a world without his light.”

The fundraising campaign highlighted Spodick’s character and his impact on those around him. “Chad was the type of person who poured himself into others,” the page stated. “He lifted up his friends, encouraged everyone around him to grow, to advocate for themselves, and to believe in their own worth.”

Beyond his relationships with people, Spodick was remembered for his profound connection with animals. The GoFundMe page noted his deep affection for his four dogs and his bird named Cosmo. According to the campaign description, his love for animals was unmatched, and he cared deeply for every creature in his life.

The fundraiser was established to help Harwood manage the financial burden following her son’s death. The campaign seeks to cover funeral and memorial service costs, immediate living expenses for his mother, and care needs for Spodick’s pets. The initial goal of $20,000 was later updated to $35,000. Sources indicate the fundraiser has raised over $30,000 as of the time reports were published.

A memorial service for Spodick was held Dec. 14, 2025, at the Gardens of Boca Raton Cemetery. The service included a live stream option for those unable to attend in person, allowing friends and supporters from across the country to participate in remembering him.

Spodick gained public recognition when he appeared on “Finding Prince Charming,” the first all-gay dating reality series in the United States. The show, hosted by NSYNC member Lance Bass, featured 13 men competing for the affection of Robert Sepulveda Jr. The series aired on Logo TV and ran for only one season.

During his time on the show, Spodick was a contestant who made it to the sixth week before choosing to leave. His departure from the series was followed by public accusations against the show’s lead. He claimed that Sepulveda had pursued him and other former contestants after the show concluded, despite selecting Eric Leonardos as his winner. These allegations were shared through social media posts that have since been deleted.

Outside of his reality television appearance, Spodick built a career in the airline industry spanning more than two decades. His professional life kept him traveling regularly, and his social media presence reflected both his work and personal life. His most recent Instagram post was shared on Nov. 21, 2025, just weeks before his death.

Following the announcement of his passing, friends and fans flooded the comments section of his last Instagram post with messages of remembrance and condolences. Many described him as kind, generous, and someone who made a lasting impression on those he encountered.

Bass, who hosted the show that brought Spodick into the public eye, paid tribute to him through social media. In an Instagram Stories post, he expressed his heartbreak over the loss and encouraged others to check in on their loved ones. He emphasized that people never know what others may be dealing with privately and reminded followers that tomorrow is never promised.

The circumstances surrounding Spodick’s death have prompted conversations about mental health awareness and the importance of support systems. While “Finding Prince Charming” aired nearly a decade ago in 2016, Spodick remained connected to friends and fans who remembered him fondly from his time on television and in his professional work.

For those who knew him personally, Spodick’s warmth and generosity left an enduring impact. The fundraising campaign organized in his memory reflects the community support rallying around his family during this difficult time. Contributors have demonstrated their commitment to honoring his legacy by helping to ease the financial strain on his mother and ensuring his beloved pets continue to receive care.
