Fan Falls to Death at Concert

A man in his 40s died after falling from an upper tier during an Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday, August 2, 2025, authorities confirmed.

The Metropolitan Police reported that officers and medics responded to reports of an injured person at 22:19 BST. The man was found with injuries consistent with a fall and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses described the incident occurring in block 511 of the stadium’s upper tier, with the man falling onto the aisle between blocks 211 and 210 in the lower section. Emma, a 40-year-old fan from Liverpool who was seated nearby, told The Guardian the man landed just five seats away from her position.

The timing of the fall coincided with the end of the band’s performance. According to Wembley Stadium’s website, the concert was scheduled to begin at 20:15 and conclude at 22:15.

Oasis responded to the incident in a statement, expressing that they were shocked and saddened to hear of the fan’s death. The band extended sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.

Stadium personnel, including medics, police, and London Ambulance Service members, immediately attended to the injured man. Despite their efforts, he could not be saved. Specially trained police officers have informed the victim’s family and are providing support during this time.

The incident occurred during what was the fourth of seven sold-out reunion concerts at the 90,000-capacity venue. The performance marked part of brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher’s first tour together in 16 years, following their band’s breakup in 2009.

Police indicated the stadium was busy at the time and believe numerous people may have witnessed the incident or captured it on mobile phone footage. Authorities have requested anyone with information or video evidence to contact them via 101.

Witnesses raised concerns about safety conditions at the concert. Multiple attendees reported excessive alcohol consumption and beer being thrown throughout the performance. One witness noted seeing many fans leaning over the balcony from block 511, with security presence appearing insufficient in certain areas.

John, a 52-year-old delivery driver from Oxford, observed people continuously moving to the front of the upper tier and leaning over the barriers. He suggested that posting security guards at the bottom of the steps where people were gathering might have prevented the fall.

The Guardian reported that fans consumed an average of 250,000 pints per night during the Wembley concerts, according to earlier reports. Witnesses described beer being thrown from various directions, creating slippery conditions on the floors.

A Wembley Stadium spokesperson stated that the venue operates to very high health and safety standards, fully meeting legal requirements for spectator and staff safety. The stadium maintains certification and compliance with the ISO 45001 standard.

The venue confirmed its collaboration with event delivery stakeholders, including event owners, local authorities, the Sports Ground Safety Authority, and police to deliver events meeting high standards of safety, security, and service.

Despite the incident, Sunday’s concert proceeded as planned, marking the fifth and final show of the initial Wembley run. The Metropolitan Police announced Monday that the Health and Safety Executive, the body responsible for investigating workplace accidents, had been informed of the incident.

The Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour began in Cardiff, Wales, in July 2025. Following the London dates, the band is scheduled to perform three shows in Edinburgh on August 8, 9, and 12 before continuing to Ireland, Canada, the United States, and Mexico. They will return to Wembley for two additional performances on September 27 and 28.

This marks the first time the Gallagher brothers have performed together since their acrimonious split in 2009, which occurred just before a festival performance near Paris. The reunion tour has generated significant interest, with approximately 900,000 tickets sold across 41 scheduled shows worldwide.

The investigation into the fall continues, with authorities working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Police have not released the victim’s identity, pending notification of all family members.
