Reality TV Star Dies at 33

Reality television star Kirk Medas, recognized for his role on MTV’s “Floribama Shore,” has died at the age of 33. Medas died on Friday, May 2, 2025, after spending nearly two weeks in the intensive care unit at a Miami, Florida, hospital.

His father reported that Medas succumbed to liver failure following a severe episode of necrotizing pancreatitis. Prior to his passing, Medas had been admitted to intensive care due to this critical condition, which was further complicated by sepsis.

An MTV spokesperson expressed profound sadness over his passing and described him as a cherished member of the “Floribama Shore” cast. Condolences were extended to his family, friends, and fans during this difficult period.

Medas gained popularity among reality TV viewers for his role in the “Jersey Shore” spin-off, appearing alongside cast members Jeremiah Buoni, Codi Butts, Aimee Hall, Nilsa Prowant, Candace Rice, Gus Smyrnios, and Kortni Gilson. He joined the series in its first season in 2017 and remained a key cast member throughout its four seasons on MTV until the series concluded.

Floribama Shore Executive Producer SallyAnn Salsano and 495 Productions conveyed their sorrow in a statement to TMZ.

Medical professionals explain that necrotizing pancreatitis results when inflammation of the pancreas becomes severe enough to cause tissue death, potentially leading to both immediate and long-term health issues. Medas had been battling this illness for over two weeks before his death.

During the days leading up to his death, Medas’ former co-stars reached out on social media for support. Aimee Hall, one of his castmates, disclosed that Medas had been in the ICU for more than two weeks. His colleagues also shared a GoFundMe page to assist with his medical expenses, as he did not have health insurance.

Following the announcement of his death, Hall paid homage to her friend on social media, stating she had lost “a brother” and “best friend.” She highlighted Medas’s generous spirit, saying he was “the glue that held us all together” and that he “loved each and every one of us so deeply, with a heart bigger than this world.”

Nilsa Prowant, another close cast member, also shared her reflections on Medas following his death, mentioning that he had been a supportive presence in her life for the past eight years, including walking her mother down the aisle.

Before his hospitalization, Medas’s last social media post, dated April 15, depicted him on a balcony overlooking Miami. In addition to his role on “Floribama Shore,” Medas appeared with some of his co-stars on a special episode of “Fear Factor” in 2018, competing against “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” cast members. He also participated in an episode of “How Far Is Tattoo Far?”
