Bakery Owner Kills 7 Employees

A bakery owner in Antipolo City, Philippines was taken into custody after reportedly killing seven colleagues during a birthday celebration in his honor on April 22, 2025. The individual, identified as Bogart Ramirez, is accused of fatally stabbing his co-workers at the J&B Malunggay Bakery where they worked and lived.

As per police reports, the bodies were found early Tuesday morning after a villager heard cries for help and alerted the authorities. Law enforcement officers discovered seven men with multiple stab wounds lying on the bakery floor, surrounded by blood.

One victim was found alive but died from his injuries en route to the hospital. The Rizal Police Provincial Office confirmed that all victims were bakery employees and resided on-site.

Ramirez, 32, turned himself in to officials at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame about two hours after the discovery. He stated, “I surrendered because I have nowhere to go anyway. If I leave town, they will still catch me.”

The suspect alleged that the violence arose from a dispute with his business partner, one of the deceased. Ramirez claimed he overheard a plot to kill him for control of the bakery, asserting that most victims were relatives of his partner.

Ramirez confessed to serving the victims alcohol during his birthday celebration before executing the attack. He admitted to using two knives on his co-workers while they were intoxicated and allegedly fighting.

Police Colonel Felipe Maraggun expressed skepticism about Ramirez’s account, suggesting that investigators were exploring the possibility of an accomplice.

Officials are investigating whether the victims were sedated prior to the attack. A gin bottle reportedly given by Ramirez is being tested for sedatives.

Investigations revealed the victims suffered stab wounds and blunt force trauma. A hammer, possibly used in the attack, was found at the scene.

Among the deceased were two minors working at the bakery. Authorities have not yet released all victim identities, but confirmed the partner was among those killed.

Colonel Maraggun noted suspicions about Ramirez’s uninjured state despite allegedly facing seven individuals, questioning the self-defense claim due to the scene’s apparent excessive violence.

Ramirez detailed how he executed the killings, claiming the victims’ intoxication rendered them defenseless. He reported immediately surrendering at the police headquarters afterwards.

Law enforcement is reviewing CCTV footage to verify Ramirez’s story and explore additional suspects. Post-mortem examinations are being conducted to confirm death causes and collect forensic evidence.

The incident has disrupted the typically quiet neighborhood of Barangay Cupang in Antipolo City, east of Manila, leaving local residents in disbelief.

Authorities are performing a comprehensive investigation into Ramirez’s background, including mental health history, as he remains detained while formal charges are prepared.

Investigators are considering various angles and motives, including business disputes or personal conflicts, as potential factors contributing to the killings.

The J&B Malunggay Bakery incident is one of the most severe crimes reported in Antipolo City in recent years. Authorities assured the public of their diligent efforts to uncover the case’s full details.
