Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend, Bettina Anderson, used social media over the weekend to defend him following a New York Magazine profile that included critical remarks about him.
The profile, part of a broader article titled “How Donald Trump Jr. Brought Elon Musk Into MAGA,” featured a quote from a Palm Beach, Florida, insider who questioned Anderson’s choice in Trump Jr. The source described him as “the most despised member of the family; he’s an asshole, a spoiled heir.”
Anderson, 38, responded on Instagram, stating “That’s my guy” alongside a screenshot of the quote. “DEFINITELY an ‘insider’ VERY familiar with @donaldtrumpjr,” she added, with laughing face emojis indicating her disbelief.
Continuing her defense, the Palm Beach socialite criticized the anonymity of the sources, labeling them “cowards” and shared a quote, “Rumors are started by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”
In a separate post, Anderson praised Trump Jr., calling him “the finest, loveliest, tenderest, and most beautiful and brilliant person I have ever known,” contrasting the magazine’s portrayal.
Trump Jr. also addressed the article via Instagram, stating, “Don’t get me wrong, I can totally be an asshole when I need to be… if you’re adversarial to my friends, my family, my country, MAGA, etc.” He challenged the anonymous source, urging them to “man up” and attach their name to their comments.
The couple, who started dating in late 2024, has attracted media attention after Trump Jr.’s split from his former fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle. Their relationship was publicly confirmed in December, prior to Trump Jr. announcing his engagement end with Guilfoyle.
Reports indicate that Trump Jr. and Anderson had been together for several months before his separation from Guilfoyle was made public. Trump Jr. reportedly introduced Anderson as his girlfriend during a trip to Alaska while still engaged to Guilfoyle.
The breakup with Guilfoyle was reportedly amicable. Trump Jr. acknowledged Guilfoyle’s contributions to his father’s political movement in a statement and noted her continued role as the U.S. ambassador to Greece, a position she was nominated for by President Donald Trump following his election in November 2024.
Sources describe Trump Jr. as “smitten” with Anderson, and a source told Us Magazine that they are “super cute and happy together.” The source also mentioned that Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle had faced difficulties over the past year, with public disputes at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
A New York Magazine profile extends beyond Trump Jr.’s personal life, examining his evolution from a “failson” to a significant political figure in the MAGA movement. It highlights his connections with Silicon Valley influencers like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel, as well as his associations with political figures such as Tulsi Gabbard and J.D. Vance.
The article also discusses his involvement in the January 6th events at the U.S. Capitol and his rise within conservative circles, depicting his influence on Elon Musk to create a social media platform aligned with MAGA interests.
Meanwhile, Guilfoyle reportedly intends to maintain a relationship with Trump Jr. despite their split. According to Economic Times, she values their shared history and mutual connections.
After the initial reactions to the New York Magazine article, both Trump Jr. and Anderson have resumed their regular social media activities. Anderson recently shared a Donatella Versace quote on elegance, while Trump Jr. continues to promote his father’s presidency as the “golden age of America.”
