InfoWars reporter Jamie White was fatally shot near his Austin, Texas apartment on Sunday night, March 9, 2025. The incident, marking the city’s eighth homicide of the year, has drawn significant attention following remarks by InfoWars founder Alex Jones.
Officers from the Austin Police Department responded around midnight to the 2300 block of Douglas Street in South Austin. They discovered an adult male exhibiting “obvious signs of trauma,” according to local media reports. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The police had not officially identified the victim as of Tuesday morning. However, Jones announced on Monday that the deceased was Jamie White, 36, a reporter for the InfoWars website and network.
“We are deeply saddened to inform you that InfoWars Reporter Jamie White was brutally murdered around midnight Sunday night due, in part, to the policies of the Soros Austin, TX D.A. Jose Garza,” Jones stated in a message shared by the outlet.
Jones described White as InfoWars’ best writer and a “good friend” who had been with the outlet for many years. In a social media broadcast, Jones claimed that White was on his way home from work when the incident took place.
Jones has publicly blamed local Democratic politicians, including Austin District Attorney José Garza, for fostering conditions that he believes contributed to White’s death, though he did not provide specific evidence for these allegations. Jones specifically cited budget cuts to the Austin Police Department and policies implemented by the district attorney’s office.
Kelly Kneale, identified as White’s sister, offered a different account of the events. According to reports from The Independent, Kneale stated that the incident was not a targeted attack but occurred during an attempted break-in of White’s car for the second time.
“Truly devoted to the truth,” was how White’s friend and author Chase Geiser described him, adding that White “honored the Spartan saying of coming home victorious or on his shield.”
White reportedly covered a range of topics for InfoWars, including politics, entertainment, and international affairs. His last social media post was reportedly a reshare of content from Elon Musk criticizing “legacy media propaganda.”
Jones described the scene in graphic detail during a Monday monologue, claiming there was “blood all over the parking lot.” According to KXAN, as shared on social media by Jones, the victim was found in an apartment complex parking lot, and investigators were seen collecting evidence from a second-floor apartment.
The Austin Police Department has yet to release detailed information about the circumstances surrounding the incident or potential suspects. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the sequence of events leading to White’s death.
