Ana Orsini, a news anchor for KOLD 13 News based in Tucson, Arizona, died during the second week of December from a brain aneurysm at the age of 28. The station disclosed the news during a live broadcast, with co-anchors Tyler Butler and Carsyn Currier making the emotional announcement.
In a Facebook post, Dan Marries, fellow KOLD 13 News anchor, described Orsini as “one in a trillion,” highlighting her wisdom, intelligence, compassion, quick wit, and love for animals.
Orsini, a Denver, Colorado native, began her higher education at the University of Arizona before transferring to Texas A&M University. She graduated with a journalism degree and a double minor in communication and sports management.
Orsini started her television career in 2018 in Lubbock, Texas as an anchor and reporter. She initiated a “Pet of the Day” segment to aid local shelter animals in finding homes. Prior to relocating to Tucson, she spent three years as a morning and midday anchor in Medford, Oregon.
Colleagues described Orsini as an individual who made everyone around her feel special. “To know Ana was to LOVE her,” said co-anchor Carsyn Currier in a social media post. “She made everyone around her feel so special, heard and understood.”
Orsini joined KOLD 13 News in June 2023 and quickly became known for her catchphrase “Let the women do the work!” during broadcasts. She was remembered as a mentor with an abundance of empathy, who consistently supported new staff members.
Orsini’s commitment to animal welfare extended into her personal life. She was the owner of a rescue dog named Harley and was dedicated to helping shelter animals throughout her career.
The KOLD 13 News team honored Orsini by wearing pink during broadcasts and sharing memorable moments from her time at the station. They highlighted her love for true crime podcasts, college football, and her sense of humor.
Orsini’s family, which includes her twin sisters and her parents, University of Arizona alumni, survives her. She also leaves behind her rescue dog, Harley. Her family has asked for donations to local animal shelters in her memory, stating she “never met a dog she didn’t love.”
In tribute to Orsini, the station aired a video featuring clips of her with rescue dogs and moments from her time as an anchor.
