A woman from Siedlce, Poland, aged 26, passed away during her honeymoon in Miami Beach, Florida, resulting from exposure to psychoactive substances, as concluded by investigators.
Aleksandra Leczycka and her spouse Dawid Leczycki were discovered unconscious in a Miami street in August 2022, only 23 days post their nuptials. Dawid survived, however, Aleksandra was unable to make a recovery.
The case, which remained a mystery for two years, arrived at a conclusion on October 23, 2024, when the District Prosecutor’s Office in Siedlce, Poland, shared its findings. District Prosecutor Krystyna Golabek stated, “By a decision dated 23rd October 2024, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Siedlce discontinued the investigation into the case of Aleksandra L., whose death occurred on 29th August 2022, in Miami Beach, USA.”
Initial conjectures suggested that the couple were victims of a theft as they were discovered without any cash or jewelry. Nonetheless, a thorough investigation, which included collaboration with American authorities and expert examination in computer science and toxicology, disclosed a different scenario.
The investigation concluded that the couple had willingly consumed psychoactive substances. Leczycka’s death was ascribed to either a severe allergic response or an overdose of these substances. While involuntary drugging couldn’t be entirely dismissed, the investigators found zero evidence to back this theory.
Before the incident, Leczycka had shared pictures of herself spending time at a Miami beach. The couple tied the knot on August 6, 2022, and headed to Miami to celebrate their honeymoon.
Prosecutor Golabek mentioned that the investigation encompassed exhaustive measures, such as seeking legal assistance from American authorities and acquiring expert opinions from various fields. The conclusions contradicted initial police assumptions about theft being a factor in the case.
Dawid Leczycki hasn’t issued any public statements regarding the incident since it happened.
The conclusion of the investigation is the result of two years of meticulous examination of evidence collected both in Poland and Miami Beach, Florida, including materials provided by American investigators and expert evaluation of digital and toxicological evidence.
