Despite their ongoing divorce, Ben Affleck lauded Jennifer Lopez’s acting prowess in the upcoming film “Unstoppable,” in a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight.”
Affleck, who is a producer on the sports drama through his Artists Equity production company, at age 52, praised Lopez’s performance during the promotion of another project with Matt Damon and Cillian Murphy. He stated that “Jennifer is spectacular.”
“Unstoppable, although a different movie, is similarly rooted in the passion of truly talented artists,” Affleck asserted. “William Goldenberg, Jennifer, Don Cheadle, Jharrel Jerome, and Bobby Cannavale – all were extremely passionate about this film.”
Directed by William Goldenberg, “Unstoppable” casts Lopez as Judy Robles, the mother of Arizona State University wrestler Anthony Robles, played by Jharrel Jerome. The film is a true account of Anthony’s journey to becoming a champion athlete, despite being born with a single leg.
Upon hearing Affleck’s comments, Lopez responded in a neutral manner, attributing the film’s success to the collective efforts of the cast and crew.
Their professional interaction occurs amid their divorce proceedings. The process started when Lopez, at 55, filed for divorce in August 2024, two years post their wedding at Affleck’s estate near Savannah, Georgia. The pair initially tied the knot at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 16, 2022.
The couple’s relationship timeline extends over two decades, starting from their first meeting on the set of “Gigli” in 2001. Their first engagement in 2002 ended in 2004, which was followed by their respective marriages – Affleck to Jennifer Garner and Lopez to Marc Anthony. Their romance reignited in April 2021, following Lopez’s separation from Alex Rodriguez.
Despite the divorce proceedings, the ex-couple continues to maintain professional ties through “Unstoppable,” slated for theatrical release on December 6. The film is a joint venture through Artists Equity, the production company co-founded by Affleck and his longtime friend, Matt Damon.
Lopez and Affleck have a blended family. Lopez is the mother to 16-year-old twins Max and Emme from her marriage to Marc Anthony, whereas Affleck has three children with Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
