Racing Legend Trashes Taylor Swift’s Statement

Danica Patrick, a retired NASCAR driver, has stirred up debate after questioning pop icon Taylor Swift’s recent support for Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign. Patrick, recognized for her conservative viewpoints, used social media to express doubts about the timing and sincerity of Swift’s political endorsement.

Swift, currently commanding approximately $13.6 million per concert on her Eras Tour, publicly endorsed Harris following the September 10, 2024, presidential debate. Swift’s endorsement rapidly became a discussion point, eliciting responses from a variety of celebrities and political analysts.

The most successful female in American open-wheel racing history, Patrick voiced her skepticism about the spontaneity of Swift’s endorsement. In an Instagram reel, Patrick said, “I love her music TBH (to be honest). But there’s no way that long post was ready right after the debate. I have been on the other side, that was probably written and revised by a team over the last week. Aka. A plan.”

The comments from the former race car driver have ignited a discussion about the nature of celebrity endorsements in current politics. In her critique, Patrick did not just target Swift’s political inclinations but implied that such endorsements are often meticulously planned, not spontaneous reactions to political developments.

Since stepping away from professional racing in 2018, Patrick has focused on promoting a health-conscious lifestyle and fitness. She regularly posts her exercise routines and eating habits, earning a reputation as an advocate for healthy eating, despite her own high cholesterol issues.

Patrick’s critique of Swift’s endorsement has struck a chord with some conservative internet users. One social media user shared a video reposted by Patrick that stated, “Dear Swifties voting for Kamala just because Taylor endorsed her. May I remind you that 90% of her hit songs are about choosing the wrong person.”

This is not the first time that Patrick has ventured into political commentary. She has consistently voiced support for conservative causes and has been known to share posts critical of Democratic policies and figures.

Patrick’s racing career was characterized by several pioneering accomplishments. She was the first woman to win an IndyCar race and secured a third-place finish at the Indianapolis 500, the highest achievement ever by a female driver. After retiring from racing, Patrick moved into media, serving as an analyst for Sky Sports F1 and NBC’s coverage of the Indianapolis 500.

Besides her media pursuits, Patrick has also built a successful business career. She introduced a sportswear line called Warrior by Danica Patrick and a wine label named Somnium, Latin for ‘dream.’

While Swift’s team has not directly addressed Patrick’s remarks, the controversy has rekindled debates about the influence of celebrity endorsements on public opinion and potential impact on voter behavior.
