In a shocking incident in St. Petersburg, Russia, a young bride met a tragic end on her wedding night after tumbling out of her apartment window.
The 23-year-old bride, Ksenia Vodyanitskaya, suffered a fatal fall from the 15th floor of the high-rise building where she lived with her new husband, Kirill, aged 24. This tragedy struck mere hours after their wedding ceremony and celebration ended, and they had returned home.
Kirill, who had earlier shared their wedding photos, immediately alerted the emergency services and hurried down to find Ksenia’s body. He was described as “distressed” by the authorities, who interrogated him about the incident. Though he denied any involvement, the police are still investigating the matter. Initially, the authorities had deemed the incident an accident.
Ksenia, who was passionate about photography, had recently completed her studies at St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine. According to family and friends, the couple seemed content during their wedding festivities. As reported by the local newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets, “Testimony from friends and relatives indicate that there were no serious problems in the couple’s relationship. The young man sincerely loved his bride, and simply could not harm her, the friends of the deceased are certain.”
This unfortunate incident is reminiscent of another tragic event that took place earlier this year. In April, a 38-year-old bride named Elisangela Gazano from Limeira, Brazil, drowned at her own wedding reception. She slipped and fell into a swimming pool while dancing, and despite attempts to save her, she suffered a cardiac arrest and died while being transported to the hospital. A friend, Flavia Silva, movingly remarked, “Look how fate is a dream being fulfilled and on the same day without knowing that there would be a goodbye that there would be your departure.”
