Vanna White’s Doubts About Her Role on “Wheel of Fortune”

Vanna White, renowned for flipping letters on “Wheel of Fortune,” is deliberating her next steps following her co-host Pat Sajak’s retirement. The departure of Sajak after 41 seasons has left White unsure about continuing her role without him. White, a mainstay on the show since 1982, is allegedly facing difficulties with the new host, Ryan Seacrest.

A source from the Daily Mail stated that White, 67, is finding the transition hard. “It is incredibly challenging for her to continue without Pat,” the source disclosed. “A part of her is tempted to leave earlier.” Despite her contract extending until 2026, White is reportedly considering an early exit due to difficulties adjusting to Seacrest’s new approach.

The source also noted that White and Seacrest have a challenging relationship on set. “She just doesn’t connect with Ryan the way she did with Pat, and no one really expected her to,” the source commented. A source close to Seacrest refuted these claims, stating, “There is no truth to this story. Ryan and Vanna have started working together and are having a great time on set.”

White, who extended her contract through the 2025-2026 season after a protracted salary dispute, secured a significant pay raise. However, sources indicate that White feels she has dedicated her entire life to the show and believes a shift towards a younger demographic is necessary. This change, she thinks, would require a younger female host to join Seacrest.

Pat Sajak, whose last episode aired on June 7, extended his deep appreciation for White, referring to her as his “professional ‘other half.'” In a heartfelt farewell, Sajak stated, “We’ve experienced many changes in our lives over the years but have always supported each other. Although I will greatly miss working with her, I find comfort in knowing we live only about five miles apart. So, we’ll still see each other often. She’s a remarkable woman, and I know everyone is happy she’ll be returning next season.”

Seacrest, who is due to take the host’s seat for Season 42 in September, expressed his excitement about working with White. “This is fantastic news,” Seacrest declared. “Vanna has been a cornerstone of the show and a presence in our homes for many years. I’ve been eagerly anticipating working with her, and now that it’s official, I can say, ‘Congratulations, Vanna.’ I’m looking forward to it.”

White admitted that Sajak’s retirement triggered thoughts about her own retirement. “When I found out Pat was retiring, I also considered retiring. But I’m not ready!” she disclosed to People magazine. She expressed happiness for Sajak but added, “I can’t imagine doing the show without him after 41 years. It’s like reading a great book—it has to end eventually. This has been the best book I’ve ever read.”

Despite ongoing speculations and rumors, White’s dedication to “Wheel of Fortune” appears to remain steadfast, at least for now. The show’s fans are eagerly awaiting the launch of Season 42 in September to see how the dynamic between White and Seacrest develops.
