Reality Star Dies Suddenly at 42

The reality TV community and the residents of Huntsville, Alabama, are mourning the death of Keke Jabbar, a notable figure from the OWN series “Love & Marriage: Huntsville.” She died at the age of 42. Blogger Marcella Speaks confirmed the news during a YouTube livestream on July 2, 2024, reading a statement issued by her family.

The family statement said, “It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Keke. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by love. She was a mom, a sister, and a great friend full of life, love, and laughter. She will be sorely missed, and at this time, we are asking for respect and privacy in our moment of grief while we process this great loss.”

Keke Jabbar, also known as Na’Keisha Dawson-Jabbar, was famous for her charismatic personality and her straightforward presence on the reality show. The series focused on the lives of three African-American couples living in Huntsville, Alabama, documenting their relationships and their involvement in real estate. Despite the drama inherent in the show, Jabbar’s affection for her family was evident, earning her a strong fan base.

The cause of Jabbar’s death was carbon monoxide poisoning, as revealed by a close family friend, JoAnn Jenkins. In response to speculations surrounding her death, Jenkins stated, “Keke did not overdose; Keke did not take her own life. Keke loved life and wasn’t ready to leave her children or her family.“ She said that Jabbar fell asleep in her car after a vehicle malfunction and was found unresponsive by her husband in their garage.

Jabbar’s cousin and co-star, LaTisha Scott, posted on social media to express her sorrow and ask for privacy as the family grieves. “This is hard for our Family!!!!! At this time we are asking for RESPECT, and PRIVACY in our moment of grief, while we process this great loss,” Scott wrote on Instagram.

In one of her last social media posts, Jabbar celebrated a family achievement, posting pictures from the high school graduation of her eldest son, Amaree. “My firstborn graduated from high school yesterday, and it was such an emotional experience. I didn’t expect 18 years to go by this fast! We’re so proud of you, Amaree. Go shine like the star you are!!!” she wrote, demonstrating her deep affection for her children.

Besides her television career, Jabbar was a writer, editor, and professor, often sharing her accomplishments and those of her family on social media. Her role as an educator and a mother were significant aspects of her identity. Her death has deeply impacted those who knew her.

Jabbar’s passing leaves a significant gap in the lives of her family, friends, and fans. Her contributions to her community and her legacy on “Love & Marriage: Huntsville” will be remembered. She is survived by her three children, her husband, and her parents.
