On a Sunday afternoon, Poughkeepsie, New York, became the scene of a terrifying series of events. Near Pershing Avenue Park, two cars sped recklessly in the wrong direction and collided. The violent crash was captured on several cameras.

Videos shared online show the disturbing aftermath of the crash. Among the debris, a pedestrian hit by one of the speeding cars was then attacked, beaten with a baseball bat, and stabbed. Another video shows another bloodied man and someone else holding a shotgun, threatening the scared crowd.

The reasons for this extreme violence are unclear. However, Rakim Paulin, 43, and Jeremy Taylor, 40, were arrested. Both are charged with assault, and Paulin faces an additional attempted assault charge. These charges are felonies.

Of the injured people, one was released after treatment. The other person, who was beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed, is still fighting for his life in a hospital. Their names have not been made public.

The Poughkeepsie police are working hard to figure out what happened that day. They are using the widely-shared videos in their investigation and are asking anyone with more information or videos to come forward to help.
