On Saturday morning, September 2, Massachusetts State Police, along with the FBI, were present at Boston Logan International Airport due to a reported “potential criminal act” on American Flight 1441 traveling from Charlotte, North Carolina to Boston, Massachusetts.
The incident on the flight was brought to law enforcement’s attention by American Airlines. Once the aircraft landed at the airport, it was met by state police patrols and detectives. The officials commenced an investigation regarding the reported incident.
Initial findings revealed that the incident occurred while the plane was in the air. Nonetheless, the exact details of the incident have not been revealed by the police. The incident had something to do with a ‘juvenile, a flight attendant, and a cell phone,” according to WSOC-TV in Charlotte.
Given that the event transpired mid-flight, it is subject to federal jurisdiction. Consequently, federal authorities have taken the lead in the investigation, as confirmed by the Massachusetts State Police.
While the FBI has acknowledged their agents’ participation in the investigation, they declined to provide further details. American Airlines did not immediately respond when approached for more details on the incident. Later, a representative from the airline informed Boston 25, stating, “We are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation, as safety and security are our highest priority.”
