Law enforcement agencies are examining threats directed at the grand jurors responsible for indicting former President Donald Trump and 18 others for their alleged involvement in a scheme to overturn the 2020 presidential election result.
These threats materialized after juror names and addresses were exposed on Truth Social, a social media platform linked to Trump.
The Georgia Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with local, state, and federal authorities, is actively investigating the origin of these threats, which have gone beyond Fulton County boundaries. Several online posts featured aggressive language targeting Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney.
Dan Jones, president of Advancing Democracy, emphasized that these threats underline the potential vulnerability of individuals beyond political and governmental spheres. He urged a serious response to these threats and called upon political leaders, particularly those on the right, to condemn such behavior.
Trump, dismissing the indictment as a “witch hunt,” issued a warning on Truth Social: “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!”
The indictment spans 98 pages and includes 19 defendants facing 41 criminal charges.
Despite the allegations, Trump maintains his position as a leading contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
