A drone captured an intense confrontation as a belligerent bull shark attacked a fishing boat off the Florida Coast.
The tranquil azure waters turned into a battleground as the shark launched itself at the boat, exhibiting territorial dominance by looping around several times and striking the vessel with relentless force.
The video, which has gone viral on Instagram, shows the bull shark launching five direct hits on the boat at first, only to return with a renewed determination for a total of eight attacks.
Intrigued yet cautious, the boat’s occupants likened the experience to a thrilling amusement park ride akin to the Jaws attraction at Universal Studios.
The encounter unfolded when the drone operator, Josh Jorgensen, spotted two large cobia swimming alongside the formidable bull shark, prompting his friend Carl Torresson to attempt catching them.
Torresson, who was onboard the boat, expressed astonishment at the intensity of the attacks, which caused considerable shaking and damage to the vessel. The middle section of the boat’s engine was torn, and the trim tab was broken, leaving the crew in awe of the shark’s raw power.
National Geographic highlights that bull sharks, tiger sharks, and great white sharks are known for their sporadic attacks on humans, adding to the sense of awe and caution surrounding the encounter.
