Pastor Shoots Wife and Self in Front of Children

In a shocking incident on June 21, a Louisiana pastor shot his wife and himself in a Mississippi hotel, in front of their children.

The lead pastor at Bright Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Pineville, Louisiana, Danny Prenell Jr., 25, and his wife, Gabby Prenell, 27, were discovered in a bloodied state near the elevators of Hampton Inn, McComb, Mississippi around 3:30 pm.

No official updates regarding the health of the couple have been released. However, a Facebook post from a friend of Gabby indicates she is currently in the ICU, fighting for her life. The tragic event has left the local community reeling in shock and sadness.

According to court records, Gabby had obtained a protective order against Danny in 2016 due to ongoing domestic violence. She alleged that he frequently threatened her with a gun and physically abused her.

Before his tenure as a pastor, Danny was a deputy at the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department until December 2022. His Facebook page includes multiple posts reflecting on faith and personal development. In a touching tribute, he described his wife as a God-fearing woman of integrity.

The incident highlights the disturbing reality of domestic gun violence in America, a problem that continues to persist. A media collaboration reported 17 such instances in 2022 alone. These violent outbursts are often linked to financial struggles or relationship issues.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, a birthday message from Pastor Prenell to his wife on Facebook, in which he referred to her as his queen and expressed gratitude for her, stands as a haunting testament to their troubled relationship.
