Texas Teacher Taped a Student to a Chair to Keep Him “Still”

Teachers are frequently regarded as children’s second parents because they oversee learning and discipline during school hours. When a 10-year-old boy was taped to a chair for being a bother, his mother decided that his teacher had gone too far.

“You don’t do that to a child. He’s not an animal. You don’t do that and leave him unattended for students to assault him,”  Zye’s mother, Charlotte Johnson, said on Wednesday, February 22, after learning what had happened to her son.

The fourth-grader attends Crosby Elementary School in Forney, Texas, about a half-hour drive from Dallas. According to reports, the boy was being troublesome in the hallway, so the teacher grabbed his arm and taped him to a chair with the help of two other students.

When the teacher left the classroom for a moment to return the tape to the supply closet, some of Zye’s classmates began hitting him while he tried to defend himself with his arms. One of his classmates had threatened to slap him “as hard as Will Smith slapped Chris Rock,” he told his mother.

Johnson stated that her child has dwarfism and suffers from chronic migraines. He does not appear to be ten years old, according to her.

Zye got out of the taped chair and went to the “cool down” zone after the teacher returned, complaining of a headache. The teacher then explained that she was simply “playing” with him. Zye asked if he could see the nurse, and he explained what had happened in the classroom.

According to Johnson, the assistant principal called her after school to inform her of the incident. When she inquired as to why this occurred, the official simply stated that the child refused to be “still.”

Johnson has been informed that the teacher has been placed on administrative leave as a result of the incident, and her child was assigned to a different class the following day.

According to the Forney Independent School District, an investigation is currently underway. Johnson believes the teacher should not be allowed to teach anyone else’s children, a viewpoint shared by many on social media.
