Virginia Giuffre, the woman who said she was sex-trafficked and accused British Prince Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was underage, is reportedly going to publish her memoir.
Giuffre, 39, signed a multi-million-dollar settlement with Prince Andrew, 62, putting an end to her sexual abuse lawsuit against the late Queen Elizabeth II’s second-born son.
Sources confirmed that Giuffre has signed a publication deal for her memoir, believed to be worth millions.
News of Giuffre’s book deal comes amid reports that Prince Andrew is considering returning to court to reclaim the $12 million settlement he signed with Giuffre in February last year.
Prince Andrew lost his royal title and his public duties, including patronages, due to the sexual abuse scandal with Giuffre. She accused him of having relations with her while she was still a teenager. Prince Andrew thinks he might get back his settlement money because she recently dropped another sexual abuse case against another celebrity.
Legal representatives for Giuffre and the Prince were not available for comment, but legal experts stressed that it would be difficult for Prince Andrew to sue her for the settlement money and equally difficult for a judge to overturn it.
Even though Andrew agreed to settle the case out of court, he did not admit any wrongdoing and, to this day, vehemently denies the sexual abuse claims.
As part of the settlement deal, Andrew and Giuffre reportedly signed a one-year agreement that neither Andrew nor Giuffre would publicly discuss the lawsuit or the terms of their settlement.
Although one year has passed since they signed the settlement agreement, sources claim that Giuffre might not be allowed to write about Prince Andrew in her memoir or their settlement.
A book by Giuffre will be an embarrassment to the royal family, especially after Prince Harry released his memoir “Spare” and a Netflix documentary alongside his wife, Meghan Markle. The memoir will not be good publicity for Buckingham Palace as King Charles III, Prince Andrew’s older brother, prepares for his coronation on May 6.
Royal experts say that Prince Andrew will be invited to the coronation ceremony, but unlike other senior members of the royal family, he will not be invited to Buckingham Palace’s balcony to wave to the masses.
The royal family no doubt wants no more drama, so the memoir is a terrible timing.
In 2019, pages from what is believed to be Giuffre’s memoir were unsealed. They were part of court records in her lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell. The book, dubbed The Billionaire’s Playboy Club, was a detailed account of Giuffre’s teenage life as part of a sex ring.
Giuffre also said that she was forced to sleep powerful celebrities, including Prince Andrew.
