Child Writes a Story in School About How Her Mother Shot Her Father

According to local news media WREG, an Arlington resident, Kaydra Johnson, 28, was arrested by police officers on Monday and accused of multiple charges of reckless endangerment.

Her little girl wrote a story in school about her parents’ argument in which her mother fired a gun at her father inside their Arlington, Tennessee house.

The little girl created a tale about an argument between her parents that resulted in a shooting. According to the Sheriff’s department, the school counselor at Donelson Elementary notified the Department of Children’s Services about potential child abuse.

The child related that her mother asked her father to leave because he was smoking too much. She said her dad struck their mom in the eye, and in retaliation, her mother grabbed a gun from the mattress and shot at him three times.

The child vividly described that she was in the living room when it happened. She said that their mother warned their father not to return or she would shoot him again and ordered him to sleep in his car in the driveway.

When police arrived at the residence they were told that Johnson, who was locked out of the house, had four children.  A one-year-old and four-year-old were inside alone. According to the police, Johnson had bruises and a cut near her right eye.

After spending an hour and a half alone inside, the two kids seemed okay when police forcibly opened the garage door and firefighters checked on the kids.

Officers found several gunshot holes in the living room, bedroom, and hallway walls. Johnson admitted to shooting at her husband at least twice, but she told police that it was after he broke into the house without her consent and beat and attacked her with a vacuum cleaner.

Johnson said that when she shot the pistol, three of her kids were seated on the sofa, and the fourth was on the toilet. Her husband suffered no harm.

The house was searched, and two firearms were found. The Department of Children’s Services gave custody of two of the children to their grandmother, and the other two to their aunt.

Johnson was released from jail and has a court date of February 23.
