Melania Trump, 52, former fashion model and ex-First Lady of the United States, was reportedly not happy about visitors and advisors entering the private residence in the White House without her getting advanced notice.
She told Stephanie Grisham, her Chief of Staff, that her privacy was invaded by people like Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, who often came to the residence unannounced, and whom she considered to be bad advisors to her husband in the final months of his presidential term.
She also didn’t feel comfortable about the possibility of Giuliani seeing her in her bathrobe.
Stephanie Grisham told this to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot during her interview.
In a transcript released by the House Committee panel, Grisham said in her testimony in May 2022 that Melania hated when she didn’t know about people coming into the residence, which was her private home. Melania told Grisham that there were always people troubleshooting in the Yellow Oval, a room in the residence, at the end of Trump’s presidency.
Grisham said that Melania didn’t have much praise for Trump’s Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows. She felt he failed to give her husband good advice during Trump’s last months as president. Grisham said she was surprised that Melania did not speak up about Trump’s claims about election fraud, hinting that Melania didn’t approve of the election fraud lies.
The former aide said Melania was distrustful of many of the people coming and going in the residence, including Jenna Ellis, Rudy Giuliani, and Sidney Powell. She was in contact privately with Ronna McDaniel, the Republican National Committee Chair, several times to ask how Trump was doing in the polls, because she did not trust the campaign staff to give her and her husband the correct information.
