Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley’s Daughter, Dead at 54

Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died on January 12, after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 54.

Her mother, Priscilla Presley, released a statement on Thursday evening saying her daughter had died. She described her as loving, passionate and the strongest woman she had ever known. She confirmed that Lisa Marie had been hospitalized the same day and was in an induced coma on life support, but succumbed in the evening.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said that paramedics had arrived at Presley’s home at around 10:37 am on January 12. They performed CPR and transported her the to West Hills Hospital.

Just two days before her death, Lisa Marie and Priscilla Presley attended the Golden Globes to watch actor Austin Butler accept the award for Best Male Actor in a Drama for portraying Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s production entitled “Elvis.”

Lisa Marie spoke to an Entertainment Tonight interviewer on the red-carpet and called Butler’s performance in the movie “mind-blowing.”

Lisa Marie was noted to look unsteady at times during her interviews at the Golden Globes. A video shared on TikTok showed her stumbling and shuffling while walking with Austin Butler.

Lisa Marie’s housekeeper found her unresponsive in her bedroom on Thursday morning. Her ex-husband, Danny Keough, who resided in the home, performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Lisa Marie was born in 1968, nine months after her parents were married. She was raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and moved to Los Angeles with her mother after her parents’ divorce in 1973.

Elvis died in August 1977 when Lisa Marie was only nine-years-old. He made Lisa Marie, her grandfather, and great-grandmother the joint heirs to his massive estate, but when they died in 1979 and 1980, Lisa Marie became the sole heiress. She inherited Elvis Presley’s $100 million estate when she turned 25 in 1993. In 2004, she sold most of the estate.

In an interview on Good Morning America in 2009, Lisa Marie recalled her memories of her father. She said he would sometimes wake her up in the middle of the night and sing on top of a table.

Lisa Marie was married four times, to Michael Jackson, Nicolas Cage, Danny Keough, and Michael Lockwood, and had four children. Her son, Benjamin Keough, with ex-husband Danny Keough, committed suicide in July 2020, which was a tremendous loss for her. Lisa Marie and Keough also had a daughter, Riley Keough, 33. She also had two 14-year-old twin daughters with ex-husband Michael Lockwood – Finley Aaron Love and Harper Vivienne Ann.
