Two years after the COVID-19 lockdown, celebrities who fell in love couldn’t wait to make their vows to each other. The year 2021 was filled with many celebrity weddings, from Paris Hilton to Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. In 2022, over thirty couples tied the knot. From athletes and actors to reality TV stars, the stars decided to go all out with spectacular wedding ceremonies.
Here are a few of the famous people who got married this year.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez
The famous actors got married in a small quickie ceremony in a Las Vegas Chapel in July, and a month later they had a grand celebration at Ben Affleck’s 87-acre plantation estate in Georgia.
Jennifer and Ben began dating in 2002 and were engaged that year, but they split up in January 2004. Following their split, Lopez soon after married Mark Anthony but they divorced in 2014. Meanwhile Affleck married Jennifer Garner. They divorced in 2018.
Affleck and Lopez rekindled their relationship in July 2021 and got married in July 2022.
Lindsay Lohan and Bader Shammus
Lindsay Lohan got married to the love of her life in July. The “Mean Girls” movie star decided to share the remainder of her life with Bader Shammus, the Assistant Vice President at a financial services company. Shammus is from Kuwait and attended the University of South Florida and the University of Tampa. The couple started dating in around 2018 and were engaged in 2021. They met after Lohan moved to Dubai and they currently live in Dubai. Shammus gave Lohan a six-carat diamond ring worth about $250,000.
White Stripes lead singer Jack White married singer Olivia Jean Markel in April. His fans thought they were attending a regular concert, but they witnessed something more spectacular. White’s concert was in Detroit, and he proposed to his girlfriend while singing the song “Hotel Yorba.” The couple was engaged for a few minutes, and soon after, they held an impromptu wedding on stage.
The retired NFL player, the inspiration behind the movie “The Blind Side,” married Tiffany Roy on November 5, 2022. The couple had an extravagant wedding at the JW Marriott in Nashville, Tennessee. They had a grandiose ballroom reception with espresso martinis, ballerinas and beautiful floral arrangements. The couple have a son named Coby, who attended the wedding.
Mary Lambert and Wyatt Paige Hermansen
Singer/songwriter Mary Lambert and Wyatt Paige Hermansen wed on October 11, 2022 in an outdoor ceremony with an autumn theme. The “Same Love” singer, and her wife married at the Enchanted Gables in Oakland, Maine and they had their gender-neutral reception in a rustic barn.
Prince Ghazi and Princess Miriam
Prince Ghazi of Jordan married Princess Miriam of Bulgaria on September 3 in a surprise ceremony held at Raghadan Palace. Members of the royal family, including King Abdullah II, Prince Talal, and Prince El Hassan, were in attendance. The royal Hashemite Court congratulated the couple and wished them a lifetime of happiness.
Mitchell Tenpenny and Meghan Patrick
Country music stars Mitchell Tenpenny and Meghan Patrick made vows to each other on October 23 in Tennessee. They had a rustic farm wedding filled with personal touches. The bride’s father made the altar, and the couple used a cake topper from her grandparents. The bridal party wore country-inspired outfits, while Meghan’s wedding dress had snakeskin details, and she wore Lucchese boots.
“Trust, respect, [and] never stop flirting or dating each other [keep our relationship strong],” they told People magazine online before their Goodlettsville, Tennessee wedding on a friend’s farm. “Fight for each other, not with each other.”
Rahul Mandal and ???
The 2018 winner of the popular food show, “The Great British Baking Show,” married on December 5, 2022. Rahul Mandal and his bride, whom he did not reveal, married in Kolkata, India. Mandal took to Instagram to announce the good news a day before his wedding, saying he would get hitched the next day. Although he did not say who his wife was, he promised to update his followers about her in the coming days.
“And before you ask, we are not having any #weddingcake, as everyone is far too nervous to do a cake for me,” he joked.
Taylor Lautner and Taylor Dome
Taylor Lautner, known for the “Twilight” series, married his longtime girlfriend, Taylor Dome on November 11, 2022 at Epoch Estate Winery outside of Paso Robles, California. Dome is a mental health advocate.
Lautner shared the news of his engagement with fans by posting photos of the proposal on Instagram. “And just like that, all of my wishes came true,” he wrote.
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari
After many stress years due to her family’s influence, and freed of her conservatorship, Britney married her boyfriend of five years. They married on June 10, 2022. The wedding was attended by many celebrities, including Madonna, Selena Gomez, and more. The singer posted a video of her and her husband dancing to Prince’s “Kiss” on the dance stage at their wedding. The walls were covered in pink roses.
