Charles Addresses His Nation and World as New King

King Charles III made his first televised speech to the United Kingdom, after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday night.

Cheering crowds assembled at Buckingham Palace in London cheered in and sang “God Save the King.”

The British appear to love their royals.

Many people had come to pay their respects to the deceased Queen and left flowers. Thousands were seen crying.

King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla were at the bedside of the Queen when she passed at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She had been resting there and receiving medical care.

In the midst of the grieving, King Charles had to return to London to meet with the Prime Minister, Liz Truss, and address the nation as the new monarch.

Charles will officially be proclaimed king by the Accession Council at St James’s Palace.

The King said that the Queen’s death was sad not only for him but for the world. “I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world,” the 73-year-old grieving son said in a statement.
