Brad Pitt is famous for his acting, and everyone who is not hiding under a rock knows him and appreciates his acting talents. He has recently shown that he also has artistic talents.
Brad Pitt made his art debut at the Sara Hildren Art Museum in Tampere, Finland, in an exhibit, along with Australian singer-songwriter Nick Cave, frontman of the band Bad Seeds, and British artist Thomas Houseago.
Pitt, now 58, showed his work in an exhibit entitled We, which was supposed to display only the works of world-renowned, artist Thomas Houseago, but Houseago asked the museum if Pitt’s and Cave’s works could also be displayed alongside his pieces.
The museum said that they are happy to be able to experience this side of the other two men.
The award-winning actor, who is displaying nine of his ceramic works, shared that he started working on his pieces in 2017, after his divorce from actress Angelina Jolie.
“It’s about, you know, where have I gotten it wrong in my relationships? Where have I misstepped? Where I am complicit?” Pitt shared in an interview on September 20. He added that his art was his “radical inventory” and that he thought about the people that he hurt, as well as his past experiences.
Cave displayed his sculptures – 17 pieces that show the life of the devil and were created starting in 2020. Cave said that he liked the color of the red glaze, so he decided to depict a devil. He eventually decided to construct what was in his imagination about the devil’s life story. He said that it portrays the idea of forgiveness and that all his works are “personal” to him.
Tampere is a university city in Finland, known for its culture and its music scene. Both Pitt and Cave went to the city for the pre-opening of the exhibit. They were excited and nervous at the same time.
The exhibit was well received. It will run until January 15, 2023.
