Israelis are used to some chaos and excitement, but this incident was quite different.
A bull was witnessed running through the streets of the industrial zone north of Lod, a city near Tel Aviv.
The animal had escaped from its pen and ran amuck on the city streets, before entering a Bank Leumi office building.
Needless to say, people were shocked and panicked in the streets and in the bank building, as the bull was able to avoid being caught for a half an hour as it ran back and forth in the bank office’s hallways.
The bull was most likely more terrified than the people who were on the street watching it.
People took videos on their cell phones, and pedestrians ran for cover as the bull roamed the streets, bumping into cars and almost attacking a man who got too close.
In the bank, several (brave) men tried to capture the bull with a rope they quickly grabbed and made into a lasso. They were unsuccessful in nabbing the beast, but managed to chase it out of the bank, as it slid on the slippery tile floors.
The bull’s owner was discovered, contacted and showed up to collect the animal, who was probably even more upset than the onlookers.
Meanwhile, city veterinary workers had tranquilized the bull, after which, presumably, the owner took it away.
The bank released a statement, “Early this morning, a bull entered one of Bank Leumi’s office buildings in Lod. He was caught, and led outside the facility. Meanwhile, the incident was reported to local authorities and the municipal veterinary services. No one was injured and no damage was caused.”
